Preview of the Neuroscience Graduate Program, March 20-22, 2014

What it is:

  • An opportunity to meet Neuroscience Graduate Program faculty and learn about their research
  • Networking with Neuroscience Graduate Students
  • Learning about our application process and receive feedback on individual applications
  • Meeting with Rackham Graduate School Associate Deans and Neuroscience Graduate Program Faculty Ally

Invited students will be asked to arrive on March 20 and depart on March 22, 2014, expenses will be covered.
 

Eligibility:

Students should have

  • a record of superior academic achievement (e.g., grade point average, honors, or other designation);
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency;

And meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • come from an educational, cultural or geographic background that is underrepresented in graduate study in their discipline in the United States or at the University of Michigan;
  • have demonstrated commitment to diversity in the academic, professional, or civic realm through their work experience, volunteer engagement, or leadership of student or community organizations. By diversity, we mean efforts to reduce social, educational or economic disparities based on race, ethnicity or gender, or to improve race relations in the U.S.;
  • have experienced financial hardship as a result of family economic circumstances;
  • are first-generation U.S. citizens or are the first generation in their families to graduate from a four-year college.

Our online application is now available in pdf or word.   In addition you will need to include your Personal Statement about career goals, transcripts, CV (Curriculum Vitae) and have at least one faculty letter of reference.  Additional details are provided on the application.

Curriculum Vitae: Please include information about your education, work/research experience, honors and awards, extracurricular activities, research publications and/or research presentations.

Letter of recommendation: The form and letter must be emailed to or mailed directly from the recommender.  Form to be posted soon.
