Dr. Singer's laboratory is focused on the mechanisms of brain injury experienced by survivors of medical critical illness, such as sepsis and pneumonia.  In particular, he studies the role of innate immune mediators in sustaining neuroinflammation using both animal models and human autopsy tissue.
