Assistant Professor
Our lab is focused on how pathogenic genetic variants cause abnormal brain development and
early-onset epilepsies. We use human stem cell derived neural cultures to explore early
corticogenesis, interneuron development, and abnormal neuronal network function. We have
studied sodium channelopathies as well as genetic variants in the mTOR pathway. Our goals are
to 1) define the pathogenesis of hyperactivating variants in the mTOR pathway and 2) develop
specific therapies for genetic diseases that cause neurodevelopmental abnormalities and early
onset epilepsy
