Congratulations and welcome to the NEW NGP Director, Carol Elias!
All in the NGP are excited to welcome Dr. Carol Elias as our new NGP Director, Carol Elias.
Carol received her PhD in Neurosciences and Behavior in the University of São Paulo, and postdoctoral training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School in Neurosciences and Neuroendocrinology. She established an independent research program in the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Sao Paulo, where she served as Vice-Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Co-Director of the Morphological and Physiological Sciences Graduate Program. She returned to take up a faculty position at UT Southwestern in 2006. In 2012, Carol joined the University of Michigan, becoming faculty in Molecular & Integrative Physiology and Obstetrics & Gynecology. Her main research interests are systems neurosciences and neuroendocrinology. Her laboratory aims to determine the neural and molecular mechanisms by which the metabolic imbalance disrupts reproductive physiology. Carol has been deeply engaged in mentoring graduate and postdoctoral trainees in her own laboratory and as the co-director of the Reproductive Sciences Program since 2017. Carol has recently served on the NGP Executive Committee and she participates as an NGP Bootcamp Instructor.
